It was just way too early for him to be a head coach. He needs to spend a few years working as an assistant or specialist halfback coach while he matures and learns how to handle players, the press and adversity. That's not a criticism, it's just that as a player he was 'full on', as a coach he needs to be more measured and that will come with time.I didn't like him much as a player, although I admired his skills...but feel he grabbed hold of the soiled end of the stick when Cas sacked Lingard, hope he's learned his lesson.

He was one of the greatest ever SL players, do you mean you just didn't like his personality?
Exactly that, and while his 'spoilt brat' personality was fine as a player it isn't a great attitude for a coach. He certainly was a great player, but becoming a great coach needs a different mindset.
